It is a great pleasure to see that the 1st EAGE Conference on Geohazards Assessment and Risk Mitigation is about to launch its very first edition. This unique event aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from all over the world to share recent advances in geohazard assessment and the development of new techniques for risk mitigation. Attendees can expect innovative research, practical solutions, and cross-sector dialogue. The oral presentations will be organized into sessions covering nearly the full spectrum of geohazard assessment, including monitoring and multiscale modelling of onshore and offshore hazards, regional and local forecasting and early warning systems, the use of geophysical methods and remote sensing for investigations, the application of AI and ML to geohazards, and more.
On behalf of the EAGE Technical Community on Geohazards, we would like to highlight the exceptional importance of these topics in preventing georisks and minimizing their negative consequences.
This conference stands as proof that geoscience knows no borders, and that the combined efforts of scientists from all nations are essential in addressing natural hazards and reducing the associated risks. It will demonstrate how united scientific efforts contribute to resilient societies. It is a unique opportunity to connect, share, and shape the future of disaster risk reduction.
We are looking forward to an inspiring, productive, and successful conference experience!
